Getting Started
Whether you’ve heard about us through a colleague, administrator, or happened to stumble upon our site — it’s helpful to get a “big-picture” view of where to start on the path to becoming an Implementation Genius.
If you want small changes in your life, work on your attitude…
But if you want big and primary changes, work on your paradigm.”
-Stephen Covey

Your Consent-Building journey begins with our SDIC (Systematic Development of Informed Consent) course.
In just 2 days of in-person training and 4 Online Modules, this course takes you through a serious paradigm shift.
We’ll open your eyes to the everyday tools you have at your disposal to systematically turn your “over-my-dead body” opponents into giving you their INFORMED Consent to proceed with your project.
The best (and most common format) is when we train you and your whole team on your turf.
That way:
- you don’t have to go back to the office and try and relay the monumental brain shift you had because you’re whole team will have undergone the same shift in thinking.
Also, by being in a room full of people who are struggling with the same public, on the same or similar issues —
- you can really let your hair down and tell us just how “impossible” some member of your public (sometimes this is an internal public too) can be without someone from another agency listening in.
If training on your turn isn’t an option, checking out our Up-Coming training events.
We currently offer “Open Courses” a few times a year that anyone, from any agency can attend.
For the SDIC Graduate
If it’s been a while since taking the SDIC course — you’re eligible to enroll in the 4 Online Modules.
In this second tier training, you not only get what was formerly covered in our CPO (Citizen Participation by Objectives) workshop, you get much more in these four components:
- Values Module
- Strategic Module
- Tactics Module
- Respect & Legitimacy Module

Have SDIC 2.0 Under Your Belt?
Now you’re really cookin’ in your Consent-Building!
The SDIC 2.0 course will take you such an incredible distance above and beyond the typical public-servant who is stymied and frustrated by “political gridlock,” NIMBY, and the like.
You will have successes that will stump your counterparts and colleagues who aren’t using Consent-Building.
Yet, to become a real master of Consent-Building we need to take you one step further — and that is into the realm of dealing with a domestic terrorist.
Domestic Terrorist… (Think: armed opponents of the Nevada BLM)
In our CPO-2 training, you’ll gain an understanding of how you can turn someone who is promising violence, seems hellbent on bloodshed into giving his Informed Consent.
The mindset of such a person isn’t the same as your average opponent, and so neither is our approach.
You need this training to be full prepared for every level of opponent, including the most extreme — a domestic terrorist.
Leadership
A leader guides her team (and the public) through a series of complex problem-solving & decision-making processes.
Beginning with out Leadership Bootcamp, you won’t believe how much there is to learn and improve in your ability to be among the best leaders in your field.
We distill for you the most powerful parts of Hans’ Ph.D. work at MIT.
You’ll come away from the course with what leadership really boils down to: excellent judgment.
Here’s a glance at the topics we’ll discuss to help develop such judgment:
- the Augmentation-Meta Process
- Using & Defending Against Strategies of Conflict
- Negotiation, Mediation & Conflict Resolution
- Excellence & Productivity
- Assessing Risk & Dealing with Uncertainty
- Concepts in Applied Maximizing
- The Role of Values
Professional Ethics
All too often someone claims to be teaching ethics, but all too often it turns out to be another means to covering your rear and playing it safe in legal terms.
Not when you take Professional Ethics from us!
You’ll get crystal clear on what is/not an ethical issue, when it is, and how to see the bumps in the road ahead.
In fact, we’ll help you anticipate an ethical issue before it comes to pass.
All too often, someone spends his professional life in public service, makes one misstep — and if it’s an ethical one — walks away in shame and despair.
Don’t let that happen to you.
Society is good at telling you the (unwritten) rules when it comes to ethics — after you’ve violated one.
Think of this course the roadmap to navigate these unwritten rules well in advance.
Leading Commissions, Boards & Staff
To get into the finer points of being and becoming an Implementation Genius, we bring you our a course on Commission & Staff Relations (COSTAR).
This interface is crucial for good leadership.
If you don’t manage the roles and relationship(s) between these elected, appointed, and hired bodies well you’ll be in over your head with a whole new set of problems.
